That’s A Wrap

Another Great Golf Season Comes To A Close

It has been another great golf season in the books.  None of this could have been accomplished without our amazing staff and our 2018 guest service team.  Our team is a big reason why Gamble Sands is ranked #37 Greatest Public Course in the United States by Golf Digest’s “Top 100 Public Courses.”  Our team provides excellent customer service, while having fun.

So many great things took place at the Sands course this year.  We wanted to take you down memory lane as we say goodbye to the 2018 golf season.

Links & Bounds Fall Run & Kid’s Sprint

This year Gamble Sands hosted their first annual Sands Course Fun Run and Kid’s Sprint.  The run included a 4.5 mile loop following the cart paths on The Sands Course.  This route consists of gently rolling views of the Columbia River and Cascade Mountain Range.  The Autumn colors were vivid both on the course and across the valley. Proceeds were donated to the Okanogan Community Homeless Shelter.

92nd Washington State Amateur Championship

We were honored to host this years 92nd Washington State Amateur Championship. The Championship consisted of 54 holes of stroke play, with the field cut to the low 60 players and ties after 36 holes. The three-day championship was conducted by the Washington State Golf Association (WSGA). RJ Manke of Lakewood, Washington, shot rounds of 67-64-64 to win the 92nd Washington State Amateur Championship.

The Club Fix

Back in July, Gamble Sands, hosted The Club Fix offering complimentary club fittings, featuring manufactures like Callaway, Cobra, Mizuno, PXG, Ping, Taylor Made, Titleist and Srixon.  The Club Fix has been a Golf Digest top 100 club fitting company since 2010. The main purpose was to educate golfers about equipment and to help them find what works best for their game.  Our goal was to help golfers of all skill levels achieve their maximum performance by fitting them to the clubs that match their swing.

Celebrating A Milestone Birthday

Gamble Sands is the perfect place to spend a birthday with your family and friends.  In May, we were honored to have Mr. Steve Hoffman who turned 90 years old. He celebrated with his 3 sons, which are all avid golfers.  The day before the family played for Steve’s birthday, while in the lobby at The Inn at Gamble Sands, one of his sons happened to mention how his dad missed shooting his age by 2 shots on his birthday last year.  The staff at Gamble Sands challenged Steve if he shot his age he would be refunded his green fee (ties counted). Steve accepted the challenge and needed to go 45/45 on the par 72 Sands Course.  He was on pace to do so through 9 holes, however, missed it by 2 on the last 9 holes.  In honor of his effort, our staff offered Steve a golf shirt from the golf shop to commemorate his birthday trip.  The challenge has become a tradition and we look forward to seeing him in our 2019 season, he will have to shoot 91.

Gamble Sands Welcomes The Cartbarn Guys

This summer back in July we had a special visit from social media influencers “The Cartbarn Guys”.  We welcomed them to 2 days of links golf as they prepared for their CBG Scotland trip.  Waking up early morning to watch the sunrise and roll some putts on what they felt was the biggest putting green they had ever seen. Check out some of the videos they posted on their Instagram page that got over 450,000 views and over 100k on Facebook!
